Mona Foma acknowledges the Aboriginal people as the traditional owners of this island lutruwita (Tasmania).   

Up north, this festival takes place on the country where at least six original tribes converged; the Litarimirina and Panina from Port Dalrymple and Norfolk Plains; the Tayarinutipana, Rrulinamirimina and Mawimirina from Stoney Creek and the North Midlands and the Plintamirimina of Ben Lomond, all came together here in the same way as the three rivers—laykila (North Esk), plipatumila (South Esk) and kanamaluka/River Tamar— meet in the heart of today’s Launceston. Down south, the festival takes place on the country of the Muwinina in nipaluna (Hobart) on timtumili minanya (the River Derwent).  

As we meet here on their lands, we honour both the original tribes of lutruwita who are no longer here as a result of the brutal invasion, and the Tasmanian Aboriginal community of today who remain owners of these lands.

Refunds + Exchanges

We’ll email you your tickets in January. This is for your convenience (so you can easily find your tickets closer to the festival) and designed to thwart scalpers. Thanks for understanding.

Your tickets will be emailed to you three days prior to the first event you have booked. If you buy tickets in multiple transactions, they will be sent separately.

A $3 booking fee applies to all Mona Foma transactions, unless you are booking only free ticketed events.

Concession pricing applies to some Mona Foma events (marked clearly on the website). We accept healthcare cards, pension cards, seniors cards, Australian / international student cards, and concession travel cards. ID may be requested upon entry.

Companion Card

Events are all ages unless otherwise specified. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Proof of age may be requested upon entry. Under 2s are free on the knee to some Mona Foma events but will require a ticket.

Under 18s

Some of our shows have lockouts. This means if you’re late, you’ll be permitted entry at a suitable break in the performance. Lockouts are clearly marked on tickets.  

Pass outs are unavailable at our festival venues, due to our COVID-19 safety plan. This means if you exit a ticketed venue, you will not be able to re-enter.

Lockouts + Pass Outs

If you are selling Mona Foma tickets at a premium, we will cancel your order. And if you purchase a ticket from a third party, we cannot guarantee that the ticket will be valid. All tickets have a unique barcode that can only be used once (and can be cancelled by the powers that be, should you not play ball).

If you are trying to get tickets to a sold out event, your best bet is to keep checking back on the [tickets site](https://tickets.monafoma.net.au/events "Mona Foma Tickets"). With the festival nearly underway, we will no longer be calling the waitlist about ticket availability. Instead, we’ll release tickets as they become available to our website. There are some there now. Check back regularly to see what’s available and what’s sold out.

Tickets

We’re following advice from state and federal health authorities about how to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

Measures include:
- Physical distancing controls;
- Increased cleaning;
- Advanced hygiene protocols;
- Visitor and staff record keeping.

For most Mona Foma events, you will need to register your details before entering the venue. This is for contact tracing, in keeping with COVID-safe events in Tasmania.
